Next weekend at Pera Dance and Event Studio, Anasma will be here with World Bellydance Alliance. This is Anasma’s second time at Pera and we couldn’t be more pleased to see her again. It is very exciting to have her back. This time she will be doing a 2-day workshop and show here in the Atlanta area. Beatbox Guitar will also be a part of this dance mix. About Anasma: Anasma is a Dancer, Teacher, Choreographer, Artistic Director and Singer.

Half Tunisian and half Vietnamese, living between Paris and New York City, Anasma was naturally drawn to mixing art forms to express who she is through performance and teaching. Thus her unique Theatrical World Dance fusions (Theatrical Dance,  Hip Hop Bellydance Liquid Fusion Bellydance, Wushu Liquid Bellydance, Salsa Bellydance…) are a mix between the ethnic and the urban components of her personal background and her present life.

Not only is Anasma a beautiful person, she’s amazing and talented beyond belief. To see her dance is something out of this world. She has been seen along side many great artists and on a personal level is quite sweet and kind. She is truly beautiful.

Zumba Meets Karaoke Party!

There’s always something fun going on in Atlanta. Oftentimes it’s right here in our dance studio. We’re excited to announce that LaWanda -Atlanta’s beloved Fitness Diva is hosting a huge Zumba Meets Karaoke Party!

Bellydance Benefit Show

On Sunday January 27th Galina of the Atlanta Bellydance Community will host a Bellydance Benefit show for the victims of the Sandy Hurricane disaster that occurred in 2012.  A number of the areas’ bellydance raqs stars will be featured and all proceeds will go to help those who experienced a loss during this tragedy.

The event takes place at our very own Pera Dance and Event Studio!

January 27th 2012, all ages. $16 per person. Tickets are available at the door.

2013 Schedule of Events, Classes and More

We’re happy to be back in the swing of things this year! Let’s make 2013 a year filled with shows and awesome events. All 2012 renters will receive a discount on their next rental if booked by 1 February 2013. We look forward to seeing you all this year.

Class Schedule:

Mondays: 6pm Irish Dance (for kids) 

7pm and Saturdays 10am: Zumba! with Lawanda The Fitness Diva This class is great for people of all ages. It’s high impact and burns calories.

Tuesdays: 7pm – 9pm: Bellydance Classes with World Bellydance Alliance -Enjoy the Art of Bellydance, learning technique, style and essentials for becoming a great performer on and off stage. Register for this class via the World Bellydance Alliance site.

Les Raissat Present: Legends of the Dance Lecture

We are very excited to announce that two legends of Raqs World (Bellydance) are coming to Pera Dance Studio thanks to Les Raissat, Atlanta’s newest cultural raqs team. Morocco of the outstanding Morocco and the Casbah Dance will be doing a stop on her book tour accompanied by Shira of Shira.net. It will be an exciting day filled with history, answering the questions that no one would dare ask before and answered by these skilled and knowledgeable dancers.

Morocco’s history and contributions to the world of Raqs Sharqi are far too long to go over in one blog post. We encourage you to visit her website and see for yourself why she is the absolute mother and Queen of today’s Raqs archives. While there are others in the dance circles that will tell you about how this art form took the world by storm, none can really do it like she can.

Shira of Shira.net has been a one-stop shop for many American Bellydancers who were looking for information to satisfy their sincere curiosity of the Middle East. Her webpage(s) are filled with information on where to find teachers in  your local area as well as reviews on products and DVDs. She’s known throughout the raqs world as an approachable and lovely lady. We are honoured she will be with us.

Les Raissat are the hosts for this event. Both Isis and Saniyah have taken a great deal of time to familiarize themselves with the Middle East by travelling and studying with legends. Tito Seif, Aziza of Cairo, Sema Yildiz and others like the famous Nath Keo, Tarik Sultan and Andrus Ramir are no strangers to these women. They know good raqs when they see it and like to feature it. Both have attended numerous Black Orchid Events and are now hosting smaller, one-on-one sessions featuring dancers we’ve depended on and loved for years.
